Webinar Summary
This webinar will explore the critical intersection of environmental health research, public policy, and environmental justice, highlighting how science, advocacy, and action can work together to address health disparities in underserved communities. Participants will be introduced to the concept of the human envirome—the combined natural, social, and personal environments that shape health outcomes—and its implications for chronic disease prevention, including cardiovascular health.
The session will feature key national and local initiatives shaping the field today, including the UNCOVER EH Initiative, which provides insight into the environmental health workforce, and federal environmental justice efforts such as relevant executive orders, The Justice40 Initiative, and the Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST). Case studies, including Green Heart Louisville, will demonstrate how community-based research and urban interventions can measurably improve health outcomes.
The webinar will conclude with practical strategies for advancing environmental justice through research, policy engagement, workforce development, and community partnerships—equipping attendees with knowledge and tools to translate evidence into equitable action.

This webinar will include a moderated Q and A session following the speaker’s presentation. The session is open to environmental engineering and science professionals across all sectors and career stages.
