Webinar Summary
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have become a significant challenge for environmental engineers and scientists due to their widespread utilization and the rapidly evolving landscape of regulatory guidelines. The unique physicochemical properties of PFAS means they are detected in environmental media that influence potential human exposure pathways including groundwater, surface water, soils, sediments, air, and wildlife. This webinar will provide the audience with an overview of the role that human health and ecological risk assessments play in the changing landscape of regulatory guidance, risk management and communication with stakeholders. This will include a summary of how risk assessments have driven existing guidance, what changes are on the horizon, and a brief survey of the uncertainties that will continue to make PFAS a complex problem for environmental professionals.
Webinar Format
This webinar will include a moderated Q and A session following the speaker’s presentation. The session is open to environmental engineering and science professionals across all sectors and career stages. Our objective is to offer special insights on leading edge solutions for graduate and undergraduate students as well as early to mid-career environmental professionals who are considering specialty certification.
